Olympus SP 570 UZ Digital Camera
The Olympus SP-570 is a 10 megapixel camera with 20x optical zoom. This is the longest lens available currently in a consumer digital camera.
Why buy the Olympus SP-570?
I think I'm stating the obvious when I say the main attraction of the SP-570 is the long zoom lens. The length of capture usually comes in handy for wildlife and sports themes. In addition to the length of the lens, The camera also has manual exposure controls. For anyone who is used to deliver an SLR camera you might be interested to know that the lens is zoomed in and out turning the lens barrel instead of the typical method of pressing buttons on the back of the camera.
As expected with a lens this size, the SP-570 offers image stabilization. The lens has a focal length equivalent to 26 – 520mm in 35mm format. This makes the lens angle width making it ideal for shooting wide scenes such as landscapes. The camera also comes with a set of manual exposure controls. Therefore this camera is a good choice for someone who sees photography as a hobby.

Outdoor 1 (Medium Zoom)
The SP-570 certainly handles the lighter colors and this picture with a plenty of detail showing on the boats and also in white wooden slats under the roof of the building.
There are also impressive levels of detail that shows in some of the most lightly shaded. The focus is strong with the building blocks that stand out.
Colors have a softer feel to them than many digital cameras I've tested recently.
Two outdoor (no zoom)
This is just another effort. Sharpness up well considering into account the distance between the camera and the scene. You can also see the benefits of wide-angle lens with a lot of the scene shown in the screenshot.
Air Free 3 (maximum zoom)
With the zoom lens in its purple fringe of the maximum capacity is quite evident. This will be a problem when taking photos with light-colored objects in the scene as the vessels in the test shot. As with many cameras, offering an extreme length of the focusing lens loses of its sharpness when the lens is fully extended.
4 outdoor (construction)
In this test shot SP-570 and faces to the scene. As I hope the image is sharper and the camera has no problem focusing on the brick building.
Outdoor portrait
No problems the sharpness or color in this shot. If you find that the result is darker in the shadows of what you want then you can try using the flash to lighten these areas.
Indoor Portrait with Flash
This is another well-focused effort. The flash is quite powerful and very clearly shows areas of the face.
Portrait indoors without flash
For me this is the picture of the most impressive of all my test shots. The SP-570 is able to use the available light to produce a natural vaccine. The brightness and sharpness are better than the vast majority of cameras are able to manage. This is one of the benefits of working with a camera that has a large lens size.
Colors
In most cases, the colors produced by the Olympus digital cameras are quieter and less alive than most brands of other products. There are cases where I like to have seen stronger colors, but this is a matter of personal taste.
Macro
This is another photo where I am impressed by the amount of brightness of the camera is able to display the picture. Levels of detail are good without being top drawer. A touch of purple band also shows where the light catches the edge of the clock.
ISO 400 and ISO 1600
My test shots, both ISO 400 and ISO 1600 show fairly typical levels noise. If you push ISO above these levels, it really becomes a serious problem.
Overall
Overall I'm quite happy. Image quality impressed me in most situations.
Shutter Delay
A single photo took 0.52 seconds in 12.23, taking five seconds. As the flash on times increased to 1.35 seconds for a single photo and 14.59 seconds for five. I like to have seen faster times for all tests.
It took the camera of 3.05 seconds to turn on and capture the first picture.

Style: The SP-570 has much of an SLR like feel than any other compact digital camera that I can remember the test. It has a very solid feel in the hand and looks like a compact SLR camera. Available black.

Facility use rating: Good. To get the most out of digital camera thisOlympus have to spend much time working with the camera and get used to all controls of the camera offers. Olympus has done a good job in placing the various controls at your fingertips. There is a control dial on the top of the camera and dedicated buttons for focus and exposure lock, continuous shooting and a switch to select manual or automatic focus.

Alternatives
Although there is a growing number of lenses longer and longer on the market the longest lens I tested before the SP-570 has 18x zoom lens. A camera I suggest checking out is the Nikon Coolpix P80.
Verdict:
The Olympus SP-570 drives more like a digital SLR than any other camera I've tested. I like the barrel twisting method of zoom. Add to shoe, RAW mode and various manual controls and you a very good camera for a photography enthusiast.
