What is the difference between Class 2 and Class 6 transfer rate time on a microsd card?
Need to get some flash memory for my cellphone. I noticed that there is a substantial difference in price between a 16gb class 2 and class 6. I know that class 6 means that it is faster, but how much faster is the transfer rate? Is it really noticiable for a regular person or just to the hyper technical?
About three times as fast.
You’ll notice the difference most if your phone is capable of video. Slower cards restrict the time that you can spend taking high-quality video, since the card is eventually overwhelmed by the transfer rate. You can also see a difference when transferring files to/from the card.
Most other uses (playing music, taking photos) don’t show a noticeable change, so you can probably stick with the class 2 card.
