Photos represent much more than files in a memory card. Take a deep breath and explore your options
If you need to recover photos in a memory card, there a few things you can do. First, try searching your drive for copies of the photos or check your recycle bin. If that doesn’t work, try using another card reader if you are using your computer’s on board reader. It might be that the card reader is faulty. You can also try connecting your camera directly to your computer to see if the images are still there.
If you know that the memory card carries a lot of photos, you might need to wait for them to load especially if you are using your camera’s proprietary software to view them. A little patience might be all you need to recover pictures from your SD card.

If the SD or XD card recovery options above did not work, you may need to use data recovery program to retrieve those files. It might be your only option especially if the data has been corrupted from being deleted or partially formatted, or if you need to recover pictures from an XD card that has been damaged physically.
