why does my memory stick duo not work in my card slot?
I have a 4gb memory stick pro duo and it is in a memory stick duo adaptor so it can go in my memory card reader. My laptop definetly reads these cards as it was in the spec.However when i place it in the slot it comes on for about 2 seconds before disaperaing. i look in control panel for the devices and it says the correct drivers are not installed for my card even though i thought drivers are not required. I then search for new drivers for it but windows can’t find any. Any help with this problem please.
This is a fairly common problem. Many card readers only support memory sticks up to 2gb in size. Expecially older or inexpensive models.
you can get a replacement card reader for $20-30 from a site like newegg.com. Just be sure to read the product specifications & ensure it can handle cards with storage capacities of 4Gb or higher.
