Chinese Version of Garmin C320 with Australian Map Info of V7 not well performed?
I brought over a Garmin C320 with Chinese language preloaded from overseas while i also bought a Garmin’s Australian City Navigator V7 SD card to replace the existing memory card. It works ok but not as expected as i used in other language version. I can use it, but i can’t find the street name and the number of the house of what i search. It shows “no matched found”. can someone instruct me to do any chnages? or shall i buy a new unit in Australia?
I have C320 with v7 maps also.
1. Not all street numbers are included on the maps. So if you are looking for 37, you might be shown 52 because that happened to be a supermarket or church which the mapping company saved as a point of interest. On some streets where the numbering is irregular or one side of the road is more populated than the other, the street number marked on the map can be a long way from where you want to go.
If you saved that destination, you can edit its location or save afresh.
2. You will probably find the address by looking for it in another suburb. Very long roads can cross several suburbs, making it difficult to find an address near the boundaries. Since you have to choose the suburb first, this can get a bit annoying.
These are not problems unique to the C320 as all GPS will have similar issues. Each GPS brand has their own way of searching thier database. So you might be able to find something easily on one unit compared to another.
Fortunately, there will soon be more competition for mapping in Australia, so expect to get better quality maps over the next few years.
Use the Garmin MapSource software on your PC to locate the address. Then upload those details as way-points to your C320.
You should also download the latest updates from Garmin. It won’t solve your problem directly, but the updates may fix other small issues.
