Canon EOS film lenses do not work on a new Canon 450D digital camera?

I'm about to buy a new Canon EOS 450D digital cameras, and my dad EOS film lenses is old he will give me. Working in the new digital camera? and is there anyway to check and see if they do? (eg a symbol? etc.) and is there anyway to adjust to working with digital if you do not work? Thanks, you know you can check the weather they are EF or FD

Yes dad older lenses will work on your 450D. One benefit is that since the lenses film camera are designed to cast an image circle covering a frame of 35mm film, only to use the central part of the image circle on the smaller sensor – What is known as the "taint sweet "of the lens. Another benefit is that if you ever upgrade to a full frame camera sensors like the 5D Mark II film lenses will still work for older fine.
