What is a camera equivalent to the Pentax K1000 35mm SLR?
I'm taking a photography class and the class recommended a Pentax K1000 35 mm SLR or equivalent. What are some equivalent models, in particular that I could get for under $ 100 (a bit of a long shot it seems)? Ricoh also KR5-3 and Yashica FX3 Super 2000. Also, does anyone know of some places to buy used quality cameras at a good price?
Buy either a Nikon or Canon, a Nikon AF F-80 or N-80 (), Nikon FM-10 (manual focus), Canon EOS Elan 7N (AF) or a Canon Rebel camera. My reasons to suggest Nikon or Canon is so that you can have the widest selection of high quality lenses possibile available to you. Once you've really gotten into photography, you will have some goals and then you can keep your high quality lenses and upgrade to a more expensive camera on the same line. Pentax is another good camera a great line of lenses and I always owned Pentax film cameras, but I think there's more to choose from Nikon and Canon, so these are the brands I have recommended my own children. Get a "general purpose lens" of one-to-telephoto range of the same brand as the camera in the range 35-70 or 35-105. The Nikon FM10 35mm SLR focus manual Nikon camera kit 35-70mm f3.5-4.8 AIS Lens is a good student team that is available for about $ 250. The Nikon F80 35mm SLR autofocus Nikon Camera Kit with 80mm f/3.3-5.6 28 – G-AF Lens is an auto focus camera and lens that is available for about $ 370. The Pentax K1000 is definitely a camera shown that student will serve you well, but you have to buy used, as it is not a current model. It has been replaced by the ZX-M, which looks like a good student camera. It is a manual focus camera with only four exposure modes: Program AE, Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority and full manual. The camera body is sold for about $ 160. A Pentax lens worth owning is the wide-angle zoom Pentax SMCP-FA 28-105mm f/3.2-4.5 AL IF Autofocus lens that sells for about 210 dollars. This makes the Pentax kit cost about $ 370. You might also consider "normal" 50 mm f/1.4 Pentax lens in place of capture, but it costs a little more money. Personally, I prefer the 50mm lens for a student, but that's just my taste vintage.
